  1. Icebreaker question: What “luxurious indulgence” would you like to try at least once (short of sin)?  (e.g. eat at a particular restaurant, stay at a certain hotel/resort, drive a certain kind of car, travel to a particular area of the world…)
  2. Read Revelation 9.13-21.
  3. What are some things, people, or ideas do we have a tendency to set up as “idols” in our lives - that is, what are those things, inferior to God, do we tend to worship, devote our lives to, or put our hope in?
  4. Although you may not set up a shrine in your home or build a temple in your backyard, what are the signs that you may be in danger of setting up an “idol” between you and God in your life?  How do “idols” affect our family life? Our finances? Our work? Our thought life?
  5. How can Christ-followers avoid devoting themselves to something/one other than God? 
  6. How has Christ delivered you from devotion to an “idol” in your life?
  7. Close your small group in prayer.
